RIP ∆I

   A year ago today we lost an amazing surfer, Andy Irons. Power and style. I shot one photo of Andy out at Lowers one morning before the World Tour contest. Think it was in 2003? Swam out before sunrise to shoot all the pros warming up. At the time I was working on a project with a friend doing video from the beach and then incorporating the photos into the film, this was a time where it was a little more difficult to accomplish then these days. Project ended up getting sidelined. Still stoked I was able to get one shot of Andy. It's not the most compelling but it is AI.

   I was just in Germany and Austria over the last two weeks. We make all our skis in Austria at Atomic and Head. Just finished up all the ski graphics for our 2013/2014 line, seems far off huh?

   Anyways, on the weekend I was able to head to Oktoberfest in Munich for a couple (or 7) liters of beer. This marks my 5th time at Oktoberfest. I highly reccommend any and everyone to go, it's amazing. 

   It's unlike anything we have here in the states, and if we did have it here it would most likely be plagued with fights, drugs and a bunch of idiots as most very large gatherings are here. 

    I shot two digital photos on my whole trip and I didn't realize how much I missed film, I've been using the Holga for years but breaking out my old film cameras was a nice change. Here's a few from a nice Friday.

   Back in high school, I had a little clothing company, Cirkle Concepts, now defunct. Although I do miss those days as it was a very exciting and experimental time, it helped me establish a base for the future I had in graphic design. There were three of us that had a hand in the company over the years, Rob, Zech, and me as well as countless friends helping out screen printing, organizing and distrubiting.

   We all went our separate ways but all still having roots in fashion and design. Rob went to fashion school in LA, Zech ended up as an Art Director for Aqua VI, and I found myself Art Director for Armada Skis. 

   Zech gave me a call and told me about his newest project, Society, and wanted me to help him out shooting some photos. He had a couple tears and mood boards he wanted to convey. Me having a water housing it was obvious I would be of most help with the surfing shots. The shots were in no way to be a usual action surf shot, just more of a lifestyle carefree vibe. With our busy schedules conflicting we were able to find a day to shoot, of course, the swell and wind wasn't in our favor but nonetheless we were able to get a few that worked.

T∆HOE

   Couple shots from last winter, tagged along for the Armada Arcast Tahoe trip and snapped some supporting photos. Can't wait to get on some more trips this winter. Let's hope we have a good season.

US OPEN

   Just a day walking around at the US Open. Amazing how many people they can cram into one spot at huntington. Bro city, Bro.
